Way too many text messages

Here is your week’s edition of Never Enough, a list of what I’ve been exploring.

  1. A funny recommendation, but this week I got hit with a nasty stomach flu and would have been decimated if not for a miracle drug called Zofran (Ondansetron). It made it 10x less terrible than it could have been and basically eliminated my nausea. It’s an anti-nausea drug that is often used by chemotherapy patients. No major side effects other than a mild headache, which I’d take any day over nausea. Worth having in your medicine cabinet during flu season.
  2. I love matcha, but I’ve always found making it kind of annoying (portioning, whisking, etc). My girlfriend got me a Cuzen Matcha machine for Christmas and I’ve been absolutely loving it. It automatically grids the tea leaves and whisks the matcha using a little magnetic stirring cup. It seemed like a gimmick when I got it, but I use it daily.
  3. I get way too many text messages. Texts has been a game changer. It’s basically Superhuman for text messaging. Insanely fast and keyboard driven, it lets you pound through your text messages in a flash. It also supports all the major platforms (iMessage, Signal, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc) so it’s a unified inbox for all your messages. You can even filter texts into different views like work and personal. Texts was just acquired by my friend Matt Mullenweg over at Automattic. I’m excited to see how they evolve the product.
  4. I’m a huge fan of Raycast. It’s a Mac utility that replaces Spotlight and lets you do a ton of neat stuff using keyboard commands, replacing the need to use the mouse or open apps (here’s a quick YouTube primer).

    Recently, they released an extension called Dash Off. Basically, it lets you send quick emails to key team members without opening your email app.

    I’ve always found that if I open my email, I’m bound to get distracted. This lets me hit a keyboard command, type a quick email, then get right back to work: https://www.raycast.com/peduarte/dash-off. Super handy.
  5. I recently interviewed my friend Sam Parr for a new podcast I am developing. He sold me on the Ninja Creami. It’s basically an at-home ice cream maker that lets you make healthy (or unhealthy) ice cream, sorbet, and smoothie bowls. I tried it a few days ago and I’m hooked. Here’s my recipe for a sugar-free protein ice cream:

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup egg white protein powder
  • 1 cup almond milk, unsweetened
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2-3 tbsp monk fruit sweetener (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  • Blend Ingredients: Combine egg white protein powder, almond milk, cashew cream, blueberries, monk fruit sweetener, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a blender. Blend until smooth, then pour into the Ninja Creami pint container.
  • Chill: Freeze the mixture for at least 12-24 hours.
  • Spin: Once frozen, process the ice cream in the Ninja Creami until creamy using the light ice cream setting.
    Serve or Store: Enjoy immediately for a softer texture, or freeze for a few hours for firmer ice cream.
